I wish I had a tips list for y’all today. I could use one.

I just got my prescription for the first time in over two months, and while I’m so glad to have it I now dread future shortages even more. The last two months have been….
…rough is a word. Others I might chose might scare you away.
The toughest part for me, the one that I did NOT see coming at all, was how my insomnia came back WITH A VENGENCE. I had not really linked my lifelong struggle to sleep with my ADHD. I had assumed I was sleeping better because right after I started taking meds I also started working regularly as an organizer, which is pretty physical a lot of the time. But when in the midst of the shortage, during a week of back to back to back LONG work days, I still couldn’t get more than three hours of sleep I started to think one might have something to do with the other.
When I finally got my prescription last week I was so pumped to be able to focus and get things done. The next day? I took a solid three hour nap. Slept 8 good hours that night. Then took ANOTHER good three hour nap the next day. They say you can’t catch up on sleep, but apparently my body begs to differ.
Since then I have been trying to shore up my health in other ways, because I figure if I can’t prevent a shortage in the future I can help keep myself from compounding it by doing my best to stay active, nourished, and hydrated. I have been doubling all the way down on hydration supplements (I like liquid IV and LMNT- the thing I love most about LMNT is they literally give you their basic recipe, so you can make it at home, but it’s pretty salty tasting which isn’t for everyone), especially when I work. I have started taking the supplements that I know make me feel better day to day. I will never, ever try to sell you supplements- I won’t even link to ones I take, because a lot of supplements are BS, but there are few specific ones that my specific needs, that I know will make me feel better, but I have never been great about consistency. I will tell you that the majority of my supplements are whole food based (not like certain MLMs say they are, like it’s literally an herb or mushroom in a capsule) and generic AF. Kelp and probiotics are two at the top of my list.
I know it won’t solve my insomnia if another shortage comes, but it will keep me from wearing down in other ways.
What about you- is the shortage affecting you? Are you doing anything about it? Remember to contact your government representatives, because goverment limits on stimulant medication is a big reason this is happening.
